When a Soldier Cries...

General Sherman voiced the famous words, "War is Hell"...

Today Sherman's statement...

 Rings out so loudly...

Each one of us right at this moment...

From every majestic mountain top...

We need to be upon one...

Shouting from our depths "STOP"...

STOP the killing...

STOP the dying...

STOP it now...

For a SOLDIER IS CRYING...

The soldier cries for loved ones back at home...

A soldier cries at his fallen commarades right by his or her side...

A soldier cries for he or she has killed another being...

A soldier cries at daily horrors witnessed...

A soldier cries when he sees a hungry child...

...crying mothers, dead civilians, all unwilled...

A soldier cries when he wonders "What have we been doing?"

When a soldier cries...who sees...?

Who listens...?

Who knows...?

Does our soldier cry in silence, without tears, alone...?

Or does a soldier cry so that everone will see...
the meaning of each and every tear shed...so we too shall mourn...?
